Juniper is a small shop located in the historic Pendleton House in downtown Blue Hill, Maine, offering curated clothing, accessories and vintage finds.

Now open.

I’m Amanda. I’ve been playing dress up all my life, and through different iterations of myself, there has always been a through line of creativity & joy & connection I’ve found in getting dressed and feeling good in my clothes- playing dress up in Salvation Army finds with my twin sister, Sarah; fawning over the American Girl catalogs and their Kirsten, Molly and Samantha dresses in our sizes; trying on tube tops at Express as a teenager with curiosity around my burgeoning bust; and donning first-day-of-school then work outfits.

I opened Juniper with the idea that getting dressed and feeling good are about more than clothes and fashion. What we choose to wear is an extension of ourselves and our values, a way we express ourselves, connect with people, and are in community with others.

Juniper is carrying resale and vintage clothing, as well as curated retail clothing, with brands selected from my years of “research” (compulsive shopping?). The makers I’m stocking create clothes and accessories that are durable & timeless but with flair, and have commitments to ethical and sustainable business and manufacturing practices. See our brands here.

I’m also carrying a small selection of books that I’ve loved and have brought me to new horizons politically and personally, such as bell hooks’ All About Love, Lama Rod Owens’ The New Saints, and Rashin Khalid’s The Hundred Years’ War on Palestine. And I have Faylita Hicks’ new book of poetry, A Map of My Want, because it’s a banger, and she’s wonderful.
